CSL Statement: Raani Bennett/Joseph Price
Date of Event Toronto Workers District Cricket: Mon Nov 11, 2019 6:21PM

11th November 2019

Cricket Southern Lakes would like to pass on our deepest thoughts and condolences to the family and friends of Raani Bennett who tragically passed away on 5th November 2019.

Raani was the loving partner to a dear friend of the Kookas family, Joseph Price & mother to their daughter Willow.

Joe and Raani have many friends in and around our cricket club including a number who initially started playing for CSL due to their friendship with Raani.  Her loss has devastated many of our club members and in our community.

Joe is a much loved and respected former Kookaburra, playing 133 games for our club over 9 seasons (2007/08 to 2015/16) and was our 1st grade captain for 4 seasons from 2011/12 till 2014/15.

He sits 6th on our career 1st grade runs list (3208) with his highest score of 160 in 2015-16 being the 2nd all-time highest 1st grade individual score.

His 283 1st grade wickets place him as our 3rd highest all-time wicket taker in that grade and Joe holds the club record for the most wickets in a 1st grade season when he took 64 in 2008/09.

Joe left our club for Wests CC in 2016/17 with our support and blessing, pursuing an opportunity that was closer to his home and young family.

The club would like to show our solidarity to Joe and his family by inviting all members who wish to pay their respects and attend the celebration of Raani’s life by doing so wearing your club shirt.  The service will be held in the North Chapel of Newcastle Memorial Park, Anderson Drive, Beresfield on this Friday, 15th November, commencing at 10:30am.

Thank You and Regards

Chris Kuszelyk
